Choosing Our Roots is a queer-led and queer-focused nonprofit providing housing support and case management to queer, Alaskan youth and young adults experiencing housing insecurity and homelessness.
We are not a crisis response organization. If you are in crisis, please get in touch with 911 for medical or 988 for mental health emergency services.
We have regional case management programs in Anchorage, The Kenai Peninsula, and the MatSu Valley.
Choosing Our Roots provides housing support, case management, bridge housing, host homes, and referrals to additional services. These programs are region-based and not available in all areas.
We are always accepting new referrals but often work from a waitlist. We know this is difficult and disheartening, and we are working hard to meet the growing need for services with our limited available resources.

We know that all situations of homelessness are challenging and work closely with several community partners across the state to meet as many needs as possible. While we do provide refererals during in eligibility inquiry phase, Alaska operates a free helpline for referrals and information that can be reached at 211.
Each of our programs have specific qualification criteria and goes through a similar intake process. Reach out and we can begin the discussion!
