Volunteer Opportunities

SafeRoot Anchorage is accepting donations for our residents. Items like silverware, towels, kitchenware, bed sheets, or other home goods go a long way in helping young adults set up their new apartments. Want to donate furniture? Drop us a line so we can check if we have space!

Due to our limited space, we do not accept clothing donations. We encourage folks to use FashionPact to donate their gently used clothes, where they can select Choosing Our Roots as the nonprofit that receives 20% of the sale price. 

We always seek engaged board members, welcoming host homes, transportation support, medical advocacy/support, skill development presenters, events prep volunteers, and folks to help organize donations. So, whatever your gift, we would love to hear from you; Your particular set of skills will enrich the lives of queer young people.

Choosing Our Roots is dedicated to working within our communities to serve queer, Alaskan youth and young adults. We are always looking for community partners to help us achieve our goals. 

We work closely with local partners to meet the needs of participants and refer them to a screened set of providers for medical and mental health care, community services, and other needs. If you would like to include your organization on this list, please reach out, and we can chat!
